The snes version of Chrono Trigger is by far my favorite version of Chrono Trigger.
Reason why is because the graphics are more original, and the pixels are larger, the game it self is original.
The word of this post; Original
The DS version of Chrono trigger is great, yes, but i dislike it for the reason that after playing snes for a VERY long time, and getting the best Armour, and going to lv 56, i am glad i have finished it.
However, to just stick the same game again, exactly the same, except for the additional port, is just plain lazy. What were you thinking?
If you are a person who likes to play the original game on a original console then get Chrono Trigger Snes. You can download it if you wish, by downloading the emulator, and the ROM.
However, if you don't have a SNES or do not have enough time on the computer due to little siblings or older brothers or sister, or maybe even parents then get it on DS.
I greatly wished the DS had a whole new game, instead of sticking the same game in again but just adding numerous amounts of cut scenes and crappy music, (its pretty good for the fantasy genre :P). I saw many videos, all of which were fake, but made a bubble of excitement. Some videos showed Chrono Trigger with 3D graphics, others showed it with improved graphics, while the others showed it with a new map, and a new person.
Well, enough about the ds version, its good, but its just a remake of the original, which is crappy.
The SNES version is to my liking. I played it for hours upon end, and it was great just like all the other RPG games.
At first i thought it beat Golden Sun, my all time favorite RPG, however, it didn't, it was a VERY CLOSE, battle, and Golden Sun won with music, and game play.
What i liked the most about Chrono Trigger was the fact that you could travel in time, and change history which changed the future, then change the future, and see what happens, then talk to some one, then go back to the past, and change the past, then talk to them, and then go even further in the past, change that, then go back to the future and then talk to them and they turn into an evil monster like this O_O.
Hehe, well not like that, but they just muck up.
Also, there are many secrets towards time traveling. In Chrono Trigger you find random stones and chests. If you go to the past, and click on all of them, and open them, you get a Blue chain mail, or chain help etc... However, if you click on them, and leave them, then go to the future, then open them you get stronger weapons.
The game has lots of features, and you can customize layouts, and change characters.
The characters are
Chrono
Marle
Lucca
Frog
Robo
Ayla
Magus
My formation for the last battler was
Chrono
Ayla
Robo
Chrono is good for the sword attack. Ayla is amazing at physical damage. Robo was for destruction and laser healing.
Altogether, I was able to do a black twister attack which was powerful but used up a lot of mp.
Here is a video i made of the last battle. This video of mine is by far my favorite.
Sorry about the flashing at the last part of those 3 ANNOYING things.
Anyways, i really like Chrono Trigger. Its a really good game, you have to play it.
I hope you enjoyed this post, please comment.
